Who Does My Benefits Broker Work For?

If you have to give the title of this blog 2 thoughts – then I would suggest you are feeling as if your benefits broker is not working for you and your organization. Please continue reading.

Strange New World

Over the last few weeks, many of us felt like it was a strange new world. As a woman, the reverse decision of the United States Supreme Court on Roe vs. Wade was gut punching. What a pitiful insult – by the highest court in our great land. As a woman, I now do not have a right to full reproductive healthcare and be able to make decisions about my health and my future. In fact, if I even Google the word “abortion”, I might be jailed and or fined in some states. This is shocking.

50 is the new 30 – Really?

50 is supposedly the new 30. Did you hear? I’m not so sure about that. It seems that statement is more of a sales pitch to get me to buy more Retinol face creams and buy my clothes from Anthropologie (I do so love the fragrance that wafts over you in their stores!) and Zara so I can still be “sooooo cute” or “you look gorgeous” when meeting friends with the double sided air kiss. I am a woman in my 50’s. I don’t think I want to be 30 again. My body definitely says I’m not 30. My life experiences tell me I sure as hell am not 30. So why the pressure to not be my age? Why does the world tell me not to be me? Why am I feeling a little lost right now?

You Need To Care More

You need to care more.  Yes, that’s right.  I said it.  The amount of concern that you have around helping, guiding, leading others to understand most things is sort of piss poor.  No, you don’t get a participation trophy like you did in AYSO just for putting on your soccer cleats and standing there.  Somewhere […]

Danger of a Perk-Filled Employee Benefits Program

As a consultant, I get asked all of the time, “what else can we do to improve our benefit plans?”.  Sometimes I feel like I’m the genie character in Aladdin…and magically I’m going to come up with something else. I feel today that I am “all out of magic beans.” With the economy strong over […]

The Four “C’s” of Health Insurance – Why it should be like buying a diamond.

The front door to everything else has moved. Why not to our doctors? Here’s what I mean. When a business tries to reach its customers, they go to where the customers “are”. They consider multiple factors in making sure that they are meeting customers in an easy to access way. Think about how we purchase airline tickets, print photographs, make coffee, get music and I could go on. All of those industries have morphed over the years to make it easier for customers to access product. Why has the delivery of healthcare been stuck in the Middle Ages? Why hasn’t it evolved to be easier, more efficient, and customer centric? Yes I used the word customer, not patient. It’s time we start thinking like that.

I Don’t Want To Be Canceled

Sometimes I wake up in the morning scared. Scared of being cancelled. You know, the fairly new phenomenon of having someone find out something about you that you did or said a very long time ago. And now, in today’s world, whatever you did or said is frowned upon – so now you are canceled. You should be removed from this planet earth, you worthless human. God, where are we going?
